A Very Warm Welcome To
The name ‘Cambrian’ refers to one of the oldest bedrocks spanning the globe, formed during the influential geologic Cambrian era. Its most notable features perfectly align with our Trust’s ethos and approach.
Aligned with these attributes, our strapline ‘Nurturing Growth – Inspiring Minds’ perfectly encapsulates what the Cambrian Learning Trust stands for. We are driven to nurture all learners - the children and young people in our care, our staff, and the adults in our school communities so that they can achieve their very best, whilst providing inspiration, motivation and challenge.

Remarkable Talent Showcased at Cambrian Learning Trust Performing Arts Festival On Thursday 19th March Faringdon Community College hosted the annual Faringdon Performing Arts Festival celebrating talent from across Cambrian Learning Trust schools. Family and staff were entertained by thirteen performances from seven different schools, ranging from live music, singers, dancers and actors ending with a joyous group performance of 'The Climb'. The range of acts showcased the wealth of talent the Trust has to offer and the sense of enjoyment, bravery and accomplishment every performer showed was remarkable to watch. The time and dedication of both the staff and pupils on the lead up to the event to put out the performances they did shone through. Paul Chadwick, Trust Enrichment Lead said: "The Performing Arts Festival is one of the key events in our calendar every year. As a Trust we want to celebrate all of the performing arts and by hosting this event we are highlighting the importance of the arts across our Trust. The event today was incredible and it shows how much talent we have in our schools - we have seen some future stars perform on stage tonight!" Joe Moore, one of the lead organisers for the event said: "Thank you so much to everyone who came - the best Performing Arts Festival we've had. The effort, talent, variety and quality on display was amazing. The children should be so proud and what a confidence boost for them all! The joint song at the end was a truly heart-warming moment." Enrichment at Cambrian Learning Trust focuses on empowering every student to discover their passions and build confidence whilst providing diverse opportunities that inspire curiosity, develop character and nurture talents. The Wantage and Abingdon version of the Performing Arts Festival is due to take place in April. Watchfield Primary
Watchfield Primary has been recognised for its inclusive community, strong safeguarding culture and improving outcomes following its recent Ofsted inspection. The inspection was carried out under Ofsted's new evaluation framework, which assesses schools across a range of areas rather than using the traditional single overall grade. Inspectors praised the welcoming environment created for pupils from what they described as a "uniquely diverse and highly mobile community", noting that pupils feel safe and that they belong. They judged the school to be at the expected standard in safeguarding, attendance and behaviour, inclusion, leadership and governance, and personal development and wellbeing. The report highlights that leaders "understand the school's context, strengths and areas for development" and have "acted decisively to address the most pressing priorities", with their actions already "beginning to make a measurable difference." Inspectors also praised the welcoming environment created for pupils from what they described as a "uniquely diverse and highly mobile community", noting that pupils feel safe and that they belong. The report recognises improvements in writing outcomes at Key Stage 2, alongside stronger attendance and reductions in serious behaviour incidents. Enrichment opportunities including Arts Week, International Week, trips and leadership roles were also highlighted as helping pupils develop confidence and pride in their school community. Three areas (achievement, curriculum and teaching, and early years provision) were identified as needing further development. Work is already underway to strengthen the teaching of reading and phonics, embed consistent teaching approaches and further develop the early years environment. Nick Hatcliffe, Head of School at Watchfield Primary School, said: "We are proud that the inspection recognised the inclusive and welcoming community that makes Watchfield such a special place. Our pupils come from a uniquely diverse and highly mobile community, and it is vital to us that every child feels safe, valued and that they belong. "The report reflects a school that knows itself well and is committed to continuing its improvement journey. We have already begun implementing the next steps identified by inspectors and remain focused on ensuring every pupil achieves their full potential." Richard Evans, CEO of Cambrian Learning Trust, said: "This report highlights the strong culture of safeguarding, inclusion and care that sits at the heart of Watchfield Primary School. We are pleased that inspectors recognised the decisive actions leaders are taking to drive improvement. "As a Trust, we will continue to support the school as it builds on these strengths and ensures the best possible outcomes for every child."
