‘Warm and Welcoming’ school receives positive SIAMS report

Pupils and staff at St Nicholas Church of England Primary School, part of Cambrian Learning Trust, are celebrating the positive feedback received following a recent Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS).

SIAMS inspections evaluate how effectively schools foster a strong Christian ethos, ensuring pupils, staff, and the wider community can flourish.

Within their report the inspector noted that “The school is a warm and welcoming school where pupils are known, loved and valued. Rooted in the Scripture, ‘Whatever you do, do it with all your heart’, the vision permeates school life”.

In addition, the inspector found that “Leaders ensure St Nicholas Church of England Primary School is nurturing and inclusive. They create a strong sense of belonging, underpinned by positive relationships between pupils, staff and families”.

Michelle Rooke, Headteacher at St Nicholas Church of England Primary School said: “I am delighted at the findings in the report. It recognises we truly live our vision to nurture an inclusive community where every individual is loved and valued for who they are, so that they recognise and realise their unique talents and potential.”

Richard Evans, CEO at Cambrian Learning trust said: “It is with immense pleasure and pride to read such a positive and celebratory report. The inspector has been able to see the progress the school has made and unpick the many strengths. Building on the recommendations in this report I look forward to the school going from strength to strength”.

Additional highlights from the report included:

    · The Christian vision, based on a deep understanding of the school community, is at the heart of leaders’ actions and decisions. It influences and enriches the lives of pupils and adults, enabling them to flourish.

    · Relationships within the school are extremely strong. Adults create a warm, welcoming and accepting environment, with a culture of care and nurture permeating throughout the school.

    · Inclusion and wellbeing are high priorities for staff and leaders, offering a sense of belonging and purpose. Individuals are known and cherished for their true selves, with their unique qualities respected, celebrated and valued

    · Collective worship is inclusive, accessible and central to the spiritual life of the school. It brings pupils and staff together, encouraging personal reflection, which nurtures spiritual and moral growth.
